Dr. Wylie is our Inaugural King and he has dedicated his life to community service that is focused on children, education and health. Dr. Wylie became Mr. Tennessee in June of 2007 and he served in the position from 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10. During his reign, he started several mentoring organizations, such as the “Diamond in the Rough Mentoring Program”. Dr. Wylie recently ran for Mr. D.C. and received 2nd place out of 23 contestants. He rose close to $5,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in less than 2 weeks via Facebook.
Dr. Wylie is currently living in Washington D.C. and working for a government child welfare agency, Strayer University and Howard University. He is a psychologist and professor that has a passion for finding permanency for children and fostering an atmosphere of learning at all times. Dr. Wylie is a triple graduate of Tennessee State University with his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in the Counseling and School Psychology programs. He completed his PhD at the age of 26 and recently finished a 2nd Masters degree in Executive Leadership/Business Mgmt. from Liberty University at age of 29.
He is a native of Clarksville, TN and a father of one son named Joshua. He prides himself on being raised by a single mother who beat all odds to take care of 4 boys all alone. His mother taught him to always keep God first and her actions taught him persistence, strength and to never settle. He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Inc., Job Lodge #876, Collegiate 100 at Tennessee State University (advisor), and Allure Modeling Troupe Alum.
